Hi I have the w204 2011 facelift silver model, I’m wondering what you guys think to getting the alloys redone in black and maybe get some black wing mirrors?
Also any other small mods? Looked at the dynamic wing mirror lights also.
(Not sure if I’ve posted in the right place sorry if not)

Black wheels are a No from me too. I have them on my Mustang and they're only like that because they are factory fit and it's a pretty rare car here. They show the dirt every bit as much as silver and cannot be seen in photos. Get them redone properly is my vote and not by one of these companies that refurb them on your driveway. One of the wife's wheels on her Mini has been done like that previously, didn't look too bad when we bought it in November, now it is flaking off and in a shocking state. I expect that's me having all four done on that now to make sure they match.

Just remembered too, between the alloy and brake disc (think it’s the hub?) it’s rusty, can I simply remove, sand and respray?

It's probably the outer part of the brake disc boss that you can see. As long As you don't get any paint on the friction surface or the mating surface between the disc and the inside of the alloy where they come together, you can just wire brush the brake disc boss and paint with something like silver, black or grey Hammerite or similar. I've done it before on other cars, although all the replacement discs I've had for my Merc have had a light grey, anti rust coating on them since years ago, so they've never needed doing on the Merc.

To prevent paint being on the wheel/brake disc mating surface (which would otherwise give you wheel judder because the wheel alignment would be out), I smeared grease over the mating surface of the disc (absolutely NOT the friction surface), painted the centre boss, and then wiped the mating surface clean after painting. Another gentle smear of appropriate grease on the mating surface, then refit the alloy.

Imho, black wheels definitely NO, silver is best, but black mirrors and perhaps a nice subtle black/carbon boot spoiler, yes, as for dynamic mirror indicators, also a yes, they look great, got them on my C207.
Oh, and welcome and nice motor. :) 👍

Artyman grey sounds good wasn’t sure if it would go with the silver, have you got a picture?
Sounds like a silver refurb sounds like the best option mind

Silver or gunmetal grey for me. Personally silver is best for your car. Black will look horrid and very much after market. Which I don’t feel ever suits a Merc saloon. But everyone is different and if you like black...go for it!! Car personalisation is unique to you. That’s the whole point!!

When you all say silver, do you mean just refurbed back to the original? To be honest I like black wheels but I think they would be better for a white car that’s why i asked.

Agree with the mirror colour change Dipped my toe with carbon covers on mine and now chuffed with how they look 👍

What do you mean dipped your toe with carbon covers?
sorry if dumb but new to this lol

I believe that 95% of all road car wheels are silver. There are very good reasons for that, including that it works very well in both function and form.
It seems that almost 95% of people (who expressed a preference!) agree with that.
There will always be minority who like something different, or who know better that the motor industry..... :)
