I was watching Chop Shop: London Garage on Discovery Channel (yes yes sad I know) and the guy building the 'super cars' was using 6 inch :)eek: ) spacers made of 'aeroplane steel'. What are people's thoughts on wheel spacers?

I've often thought that anything these two build can't be safe.

The Billet steel spacers must be stressing the bolts an enormous amount.

As long as you don't over do it with very thick spacers, or without resolving to a stud conversion if you had to use very thick spacers.

I've used spacers on all my cars over the past 6 years. No problems.

Oh ...... and use quality hubcentric spacers ;)

i was told, the longer the spacers, the more strain on the hub and other parts?
maybe im wrong?

The thicker the spacer.

But anything this side of 15mm will put negligible strain on your suspension components.

I think comparing the likes of an H&R wheel spacer and something those Chop Shop London clowns knock up is a bit extreme! One I am sure is fine if correclty spec'd, the other surely must be foolish.

Low quality entertainment that I admit to skipping through, but only for the cringe factor. Much preferred Leepu bach in Bangladesh, somehow the setting and all the manual grafting made it.
