Took the CLK for an 'A service' earlier this week. Happy with service - good communications, nice staff (all ex-dealership), got a 05 plate Ford Fiesta courtesy car, motor was nice and clean when done.
The service was going to be £170.
Unfortunately, this was the amount of extra work my car needed:
- brake fluid (last changed ages ago)
- drag link (steering was very 'notchy' when I took it in), requiring steering geometry to be tracked once fixed - ~£500-£600 job
- spark plugs (of which there are two per cylinder, so 12 total - eek!)
- front and rear brakes nearly worn out
....leading to a quote in the £1,300 to £1,400 region
I elected to leave the brakes and do them myself sometime in the next couple of weeks (with the help of a mate). Total bill.....£988 inc. VAT.
To be fair, the steering feels like new so it definitely needed doing. It was also an advisory on the last MOT.
Looking at the service booklet, the sparks were last changed in mid-2008 so also needed doing.
