Looking to get my wheels refurbed.

So got a quote from the wheel specialist in Manchester and they quoted £380, wasnt to impressed with that as when i have had wheels done before its been around £250-£280.

Anyway popped in to my local MB dealer in Warrington for a different reason and spotted a note that they did refurbes, enquired and the nice young girl said £200 inc VAT.. Thats more like it..

Just for anyones info in this area could be worth considering..

Is that a full refurb or SMART repair?

You generally get what you pay for in my experience.

Be surprised if that is a proper refurb

dip / strip / powder coat / lacquer

More likely a mobile van man who will blow them over and bake it on.

Good luck though

You can get a powdercoat refurb for £20!

Cheap refurbs are usually single colour finishes rather than two-stage with paint - liberally applied to hide defects so you can't get the centre caps back on.

They do it on site in their bodyshop, will be asking about the full process before booking. The last set i had done were £240 and that was a full strip dip and powder coat.. But will see..

Let me know where will refurb my wheels for £20 please , i'd like to save some money.

I get mine done at BJV Engineering , they dip/blast , powdercoat and laquer mine , then diamond cut the rims , for £220.

Just did a set of 18 inch split rims for my dads ML for the same price :)

If it's done onsite in the bodyshop , the tyres will be pushed back from the rims , quick rub down and a blow over. 99% certain. MB Bodyshops don't have dip / strip booths for wheels

A few places like this have random offers when they're quiet. Personally I wouldn't risk it but good luck if you do :).

Not for me , unless they do diamond cutting too ?

MB Warrington: I would be surprised if it wasnt will be a spray and pray job by the local man in a van.

I've used city powder coating a few times now. £20 has been their price for at least 2 yrs now for a single std colour full refurb. They won't be as good a finish as say Lepsons, but for that money you really can't complain. I had a set on my last car refurbed and powder coated in black in November, and by the time I put my summer wheels back on in April, they were still spotless.

Meantime, here's what they did to what were a very ropey looking set of alloys I bought on ebay:- All for £80

I had my 17" monoblocks powder coated silver last year for £25 a corner. So far they look really good, even through the crappy winter we have just had.
