When did adaptive transmission arrive?

Can anyone tell me when adaptive transmission was introduced?

I am wondering if the SL 280 & 320 of 1998/99 had it.

My 1999 SL500 has adaptive transmission.

I reset it a couple of weeks ago and what a big improvement.

How do you reset the adaptive transmission?

I think it came in with the 5-speed box, which was an option from 1994-ish (I think?) and became standard on the SL in the '96 facelift.

How do you reset the adaptive transmission?

I did it using a star machine - wish I could get it to reset itself automatically every day to be honest.

That looks like a different reset. (Must try that throttle body reset trick too)
