When did W211 E500 increase in capacity happen??

Can anybody tell me when the E500 moved to the larger (and more powerful) engine? I think it was 2006 sometime??

You're quite correct, they changed to a 5.5 in mid 2006.

Thanks, was looking at a 2006/06 E500 and had no idea if was the smaller or larger engine (not seen it or any of the paperwork inthe flesh)

As its an 06 reg I'm guessing the smaller engine?

Best to check V5 I guess.

The facelift W211 in mid-2006 will be the biggest indicator whether 5 or 5.5 I think.

Have a look on the specification thing on auto trader, it will tell you the cc on there.

Spot on, everything on a "J" plate here

Only seen when driving past a garage, so not even made enquiries yet - but would say it looks like facelift down to front end driving/fog lights. In which case should hopefully be the 388hp model
