That's truly hideous

Having said that, I'd never have though of the 2000E MkIII Cortina as a classic anyway, unlike the MkII 1600E of course.

Saw a Morris Marina camper today! Strangley enough at our recycling centre! It was on an "L" - at the other end, so he was'nt paying road tax. Top could have go into "hard plastics" everything else into the "can bank"

Someone must have had a big brain fart to think of that monster.

£4500 as a starting bid ? ? ?
What planet does this guy live on?
I would pay that for someone to tow it away.

That been around for years, well known in classic ford circles, also well known is "The Snail" which is a morris minor with a caravan bodged on the back. :S

MKII 1600E, i wish i still had mine :( and the MKI Lotus Cortina i had :(
Wonderful cars in there day.

mk3's are worth more than mk2's these days (not including Lotus versions) down to a TV advert and that time travelling 70's cop show whatever it was called.

Geniune - I repeat - genuine - MK1 Lotus Cortinas (with a good traceable provenance) are worth a kings ransom nowadays. Seen good ones sell for £60K.
Probably dropped a bit currently what with the recession and all............

Some trivia for you, the mk1 is called the Lotus Cortina and the mk2 is the Cortina Lotus due to the mk2 being assembled at Fords rather than Lotus.

And even more............
Later Mk2 Cortina Lotus were re-branded as the Mk2 Cortina Twin Cam. They dropped the name Lotus as it was percieved that all the good points about the car were seen to be "Lotus" and all the bad points seen as "Ford". Ford wanted the car to be seen as just a Ford and not a hybrid.

I think the mk1 was originally called "the cortina developed by lotus" or some such mouthfull. lol

i prefered it when they got round to dropping the engine into the escort and made a really REALLY good car. ;)

Yes. I think the Cortina bodyshell was a bit big and heavy for the 1558 engine. Even in big valve tune. Much better suited to the smaller, lighter and stronger Escort shell.
Althought to get the best from the engine, try an Elan Sprint.

not sure i'd fit in an Elan, couldnt drive a Europa when i tried, to lanky. :(
