Today I'm having a Ghost immobiliser fitted to my 2019 W205 (so I thought!) C43 saloon.

Ten minutes into fitting the guy comes back and says it's a W204, signified by a label and the fact that there's an extra module or something and he's got to reprogramme the Ghost to suit.

I'm confused..

Looks like it's a W205 body with W204 mechanicals? I did not know that was a thing. Guess it must be an early build or something?

Mine was registered to be used as a demo in June this year. Makes me wonder if it wasn't sitting about for a while before they registered it.

You're not serious, are you?

It’s a W205. Period.

The W205 is a completely different platform to the W204.

Well this is exactly what I thought. But the door jam sticker definitely says W204 and the alarm guy says you can also tell by this extra module. Bizarre

Take a look in your V5, or look at the Vin # in the windscreen.
It will begin WDD or WDB205 .............
A C43 was never produced as a W204 either.

As an aside, Autowatch Ghost is a very good immobilizer. Had it fitted myself a couple of weeks ago and its very effective if you forget the procedure:D

You'll probably find the door jamb sticker has a part number on it, and that sticker is shared with the W204.

Hopefully the fitter isn't about to make a very big (and irreversible) mistake.

Fitter has just come in and taken out a laptop with him. I'm guessing he's finding out the truth....

Ours says 204 on the door jam and on the V5, but it is a 205. There's a thread about it on here somewhere.

They just came back in and say it is a W205 as expected. The door sticker must be wrong, and I've no idea about this module they say the W205 normally has that isn't there. Facepalm.

Got a photo of the part that says W204? its very common for models to share parts.

I remember this from a few years ago. I can't remember the outcome of it but my log book under "type" states "204K", (where K is Kombi or estate). But it is a 205 as reflected in the chassis number starting WDD205, plus the fact that it doesn't look like a 204 and you couldn't get my engine in a 204. :D

The Ghost installation has been aborted. Programmed for W204 it doesn't work at all, as expected. Programmed for W205 the car won't start at all. Sigh. Now I have to wait for them to investigate and likely declare it incompatible .

Give Comandonline a call and ask if they have had issues fitting one to a W205.
Something isn't right if a W205 is on the list of suitable cars??

Ask for Richard 01276 451579
