My car is a C200CDI Blue Eff 7 speed auto first reg. 27/05/2011 which will have 33k by time of 3rd service.
I phoned 2 dealers and asked about service costs plus any extras.
Replies varied: Dealer A) quoted £210 for service plus £75 for brake fluid change and said they could not tell until the day car came in for service if gearbox oil change reqd.
Dealer B) Quoted £250 for service plus cost of brake fluid change (they changed it last year!!!) and said gearbox may require oil change.

I studied sercice/warranty booklet and the way I read it this model does not require a change.
The reason for premature enquiry about costs is to whether I change car now with all deals going on C Class or service and extend warranty for a couple of years.

Put your car details in the Mercedes ESS Mercedes-Benz ESS

For my c220 w204 is states "Please check to ensure that this vehicle requires this operation to be carried out and it is fitted with a 722.9 NAG2"
Mine has a 722.6. No AFT change required.
Brake fluid change is every 2 years.

Pre facelift 204, theoretically no ATF change required. Post facelift, ATF change at IIRC 37k miles. Had a big argument with MB Ashford about this when I bought my 2008 S204 a couple of years ago, the service book said the ATF should be changed, but the above was their reply. I may get the 204 done this year to see if it will get rid of the slight hesitation when pulling away from stationary - a feature of the car from my first test drive!

When I had the 2001 S203, there was a lot of discussion on here and t'other side about ATF change, as the 203 manual said it was sealed for life. Many of us (me included) had the ATF change done by an indie (cost me about £150), mine was done at about 65-70k miles, the auto box had been quite OK before the change, but was noticeably smoother after.

Have a look at www.mymercedesservice.co.uk for main dealer service costs. Your brake fluid was done last year so does not need doing until next year - but that will be the 4 year service so will also be air and fuel filters! Time to look to your local indie I think!!

This question only ever comes-up when an MB delear tries to avoid changing the ATF for free on an Approved Used car or under Service Plan cover.

Other than that, it is always 37.5k miles or 4 years, and never mind what ESS says...

Nothing I have read on either of the 2 MB forums I frequent has ever said that ATF should be changed EVERY 37.5k miles - it's either "sealed for life" according to MB, or one change at 37.5k miles (IIRC for the 204 model, can't be 100% certain whether that for post facelift or for the 7 speed gearbox that replaced the 5 speed).

However, as I said above, a lot of discussion spoke of the benefits of doing an ATF change on the 203 model - which is why I had mine changed. There was also a lot of discussion about the "easy" way - just the transmission, not the torque converter - or the harder way of doing both. IIRC the easy way requires 4L of ATF, the harder way 7.5L (and more mechanic time).

Maybe someone like MBS will pick up on this thread so we can get a knowledgeable mechanic's view.

i just had my b engine service gearbox and diff at spr auto,s stockport they said gearbox oil every 40k mine,s just done 78k and its first specialist service.
mb have not done mine at 40k some dealers say its a lifetime box no service.
i disagree had all this done for £475+vat.well impressed.

I was led to believe my my local MB dealer that my 09/11, C200cdi needed an auto transmission oil changed once only at 36000 miles.
Brake fluid is every 2 years.

Booked car in for service today at an MB main dealer, service advisor assured me no auto transmission change required on my car. W204 C200 CDI Blue Eff 2011 with 7 speed box. 32,000 miles
A service and MOT £275. inc 4th year MB breakdown assistance.

It's once at 37.5k on your car.

However we advise every 40kish at least if you want your box to survive long term.

Problem is most people don't care as they don't plan to keep their car for more than 40k these days...
