When is the relaxing of number plate spacing going to take place

The spacing of number plate letters is going to be relaxed, but when? The DVLA are pushing this so they can increase revenue by selling plates that spell desirable names etc, it was supposed to happen this autumn but most of the number plate selling companies are advertising this but no date. Anyone any info?
