I've just read an article that suggests that a service paid for by subscribing to an MB monthly service plan may not be the same as a "proper service" and may not even include an oil and filter change.
With no service book and no detailed invoice how does one know what has been done?

You input your reg on the mercedes website and it will tell you what is required and what works will go ahead in the due service

My services are the same as any other paid up front service, I'm on the service plan

It always includes and oil and filter change. Sometimes that, and a few checks, is all that the schedule calls for. Some would dispute that that's a 'proper service' but it makes no odds how it's paid for.

You have no idea either way. Even with a detailed invoice the parts could have found their way into the mechanics toolbox.

Take your car to a trusted Indy-simples. Time and time again main dealers have either let me down, ripped me off, lied and told me a load of BS

Whoever wrote the article doesn't know what they're talking about.

I get the service book stamped, and a detailed invoice, and yes the current car is on the Service Care plan, as was the previous one for four years.

Always paid for by the monthly DD.

My last service three months ago had five additional items, including ATF, sparks, brake fluid and filters. Courtesy car for an entire day (8:30 - 6:30) ... all for the same £30 a month :thumb:

^^^

Still bugs me David that you get a free courtesy car and I don't :dk: haha

Have to say MB dealers are the worst I've experienced for servicing so far.

Audi the best.

Indy's are few and far between around here. And the one in Cheltenham, before anyone mentions it, took days to reply to my basic enquiry. That is not reliable unless you think at least they gat back to me!!

:-)

I was speaking with my Indy this week and we were discussing a W123 Coupe in his garage, and also the fact that my W204 C320CDI air filters had not been changed by the dealership even though they were filty.

He was saying that back in the day when he worked in the dealership (during the W123 days) they used to spend all day servicing per vehicle as it was a thorough service.

He finished off that conversation with " Now look and see what Mercedes call a service !"

Says it all really.:(

I know an ex my mechanic who's bottom tool box drawer (the super deep one) is full to the brim of new mb spark plugs ;)
