where is a fuel filter on a e300td estate

I've more or less finished the service on my car, but I cant see where the new fuel filter goes. I'm sure it must be obvious but I cant see it.

dont forget the pre-filter and maybe the fuel tank strainer aswell.

and if your fuel lines are old discoloured and brittle then there is a fair chance that the o-rings are in a bad way and are worth replacing. They suck air in usually as the system is under vacuum.
