i came back from a 9 week holiday to find my battery is dead. i cant open my boot to jump start as the key is different & boot opens from inside electronically so no good as no power. i opened the bonnet but couldn't a point to plug the connectors onto. can anyone help... or even show it on a photo??

thanks

in front of the ECU box on the passenger side. behingd the washer bottle
A little black box with a X on it like the scottish flag.

i found it. is it the one with 2 power wire going into it & a small screw for earth? i connected the cables onto it & no power went to my car.

I remember when I disconnected the battery & closed the boot only to realise the boot has different lock & I don't have the key's. an electrician plugged his booster to some points & got power to the car to open the boot again.

so why did it not work for me? is it because I got a dead battery connected?

only one wire is positive the big black one.. connect the negative to any point on the vehicle engine . it should give you enough power to open the boot or start the car

is there any other way of getting the boot open?

where's the best place to get the W202 battery from anyway. halfords quoted me £90

they quoted me £90 & its half the size of the battery thats in my car at the moment.

For a C180 should not be that big? better get it from bosch or MB.
Mine was £70 from mb

got it working!!!

got it working :D

thanks mate!!! i probably didnt earth it at the right place last time. started the car. drove round the block & locked it up on my drive with the engine running. you think it should be ok after I leave it running for half hour?

It is better to charge the battery properly as alternators are not that good at doing it.

borrowed an absaar battery charger & had it running 3 hours. thing is its an old school & the meter is still sitting @ the left side. dunno if its charging or not.

its an old version of the series A. here's a link of the charger.

I also dunno how long I should leave it charging for.

Bite the bullet mate. Buy a new battery. Usually cheaper at Mb Commercial rather than your local car Mb outlet.

Went & got a new batter from euro car parts. the Bosch S3. Paid £85.00. And that was for the long battery (halfords tried to sell a standard size one for £90.00)

I asked RSR on the way & they said they'll charge £120 + vat on top. I carried on driving to euro car parts.

One question though. whats better.. Varta or Bosch?

The amazing thing about batteries nowadays is a lot of the time they tend to be cheaper from the Main dealer.

The other half's micra needed a battery and I got it from Nissan for half the price of anywhere else and that was witha 3 year warantee !!!!

how much is main dealer selling them for?

Around £120
