Where is this trim supposed to be fitted... if anywhere! (Pics)

Hi,

I just purchased a late 59 plate W212 E350 Sport Saloon and in the boot there's some trim which I'm confused by. Some of the boot trim is 'off' and I'll probably need to take more off to diagnose an issue with the reg plate light.

But, I can't tell where it's supposed to go - or even if it's from this car! It was two pieces, but they slot together. There are no logos, numbers or markings on it.

Any ideas?

Check again if there's an MB part number on the inside, e.g. A 212 846 00 12, then google the part number.

If there's no part number on it, then chances are it's not from the car...

I did look - couldn't find one! Which I thought was strange for any part from the car.

I've had three W212 saloons and don't recognise that as part of the car's trim. The absence of logos or part numbers reinforces my view that it's not a Mercedes part.

Throw them in the bin and the week after the bin has been taken away you will find out what they are and how critical!

Hi, DON'T throw them away, they are an integral part of the cars safety system and without them your call will fall apart.

I know exactly what it is and where it goes.......as I have one too!

It is a cover plate which attaches to the fixing plate of a cantilever wall bracket for a TV, to hide the fixings!

..or perhaps it came off a piece of luggage? The bottom op a carry-on suitcase?

Perhaps it did. The one I have posted is exactly the same (it would appear) and my TV bracket is where it was taken from.
