Hey guys

Where would people recommend I advertise my c63 in fire opal for sale?

2012
28000 miles
Coupe

Looking for c£32k

Conscious lots of stories of time wasters on some sites so looking for advice?

Try it in the Cars For Sale section on here?

I've used Pistonheads to sell all four of my last cars, its free if you are a member plus people looking for performance cars tend to use the site.
I just recently sold my Porsche Boxster RS60 on there, I did price it realistically and got 10 private enquiries in the first day and sold it the second day.
Be prepared for traders from big groups being polite and offering you very low prices.
I almost felt there was a conspiracy as I got a call from a guy who said he was coming round straight away and didn't turn up. I then got a call from someone representing a large group saying he would buy it for a low price and I would be saved the hassle of people not turning up. May just be me being paranoid but that doesn't mean they're not after me.

Ebay is the best place.

For time wasters !!

Agree that both specialist forums such as this very one and Pistonheads are probably best but even then as others have said be prepared for frustration and occasional annoyance.

Sold my last car on ebay. No problems at all.

You just need to advertise with a full description of all likely questions that potential buyers may ask.

Start the bidding with your minimum price, and no reserve.

That way you avoid attracting idiots.

I have never seen any car on Pistonheads worth buying. All over priced traders.

I had nothing but shyate kickers when selling a Golf GTI on eBay, but when I sold the Mini a lovely lady bought it and she was very understanding as I was out of the country for most of the transaction. There are some good people out there, normally you can smell them quite quickly.

In my experience the 'best' is Auto Trader, then eBay.

Pistonheads is a complete waste of energy in my experience; against my better judgement, I listed the E55 on there and had only two types of people contact me:
1. Scammers and

2. Boring time wasting dreamers just phoning for a chat.

E bay, sold my Beetle cab there yesterday, first viewer bought her cash, no problem at all.

My partner has sold quite a few cars in the last 2 years (as he can't quite figure out what he is happy with) and we use all 3 mediums - eBay AT and PH - as well as any relevant forums. I find eBay often attracts particularly low offers but it is possible to buy and sell on there hassle free - make yourself aware of the eBay motor selling policy though - AT sometimes works but it's not cheap - 6 weeks is around £56 and then they hassle you when it expires. I find you get a few people who call for a chat but have no intention of buying.
I've never managed a sale on PH but my partner has - I think it depends on what your selling - his last car that sold on PH was very bespoke so that might have helped.

Good luck with the sale

I have the same year car with only 9000 miles and the best I can get is £31,500. That was with webuyanycar.com

Pistonheads has always worked well for me.
Autotrader is ok.
No experience of selling (a car) on eBay.

Pistonheads for me but the market is flooded with these at the moment as they're all coming off of their initial Agility agreements so, price it realistically against the competition and more importantly, a good saving over main dealer cars to make it worth the buyer's while.

It's always tricky selling a private car over £30k, asking for cash unless it's something rare. I tend to find £25k is the cash buyers barrier.

ive just sold my Mondeo st220 estate on autotrader last week, advert was live tues morning a guy from London rang tues night and said 'I want that car, dont sell it,but I cant get up to you til thurs morning' so I fended off about 6 other people who phoned and true to his word he knocked on my door thurs morning, had a good poke around, then thrashed it a bit on test drive then said 'i'll have a think about it' then drove off in the exact copy of my mondy which had done 156k and looked it, mine was half that and even better looking, imo,.thurs night had a call from a chap from Sheffield and he came down last Saturday morning with a wedge o cash and bought it :-)

You're very generous - I would never have waited for that initial buyer who couldn't make it until Thursday...
