I recently switched from BMW to a CLK 320, 2000. The car has a classic problem with the instrument cluster, the LED panels for temperature and clock are more or less dead (It's not the bulbs, some of the digit parts are clearly visible). I opened the cluster and have to conclude that repairing the plastic bands connecting the leds to the circuit board would be very very hard if not impossible.

I contacted MB here in sweden where i live, i asked for a price on a new instrument cluster, as usual, mercedes live in a parallel universe when it comes to pricing and they wanted 730 Euros for a new cluster.

I went on the internet to search for OEM or refurbished sites that sell mercedes parts, unlike when i had BMW i find absolutely no good sites for MB parts.

Can any of you guys help a new MB owner with some tips about good spare parts suppliers or refurbishers ?

Mercedes in Germany has its own refurbished parts website. Dont know if it covers electronics tho. Unfortunately its english language gateway is down at the moment. http://www.mbatc.de/index.asp but if your german is OK then just navigate into the site and key in the part no you are interested in. Otherwise a local car breaker yard is possibly the best option. this company seem quite efficient also http://www.speed-autoteile.com/ tho they dont list an instrument cluster. theres also http://www.eurocarparts.com/default.asp and http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ but shipping costs might be a factor for Sweden. My guess is that an instrument cluster is one of these parts that is only available from Mercedes Benz dealers in reality unless you can get a 2nd hand one.

I don't want to pull you away from this site but if you have an A class there is a 10% off gsfcarparts with baby-benz.com, but you do need to subscibe £2.50 a year to that forum.
