Hi,

I have a condenser leak on my w212.
Original part number is A2045000654.
I believe original manufacturer was Denso.
Mercedes supplied unit is £300.

Denso parts catalogue and Autodoc list Denso part DCN17035 for about £150.
Search for part number via Denso website here

My local specialist has quoted £390 to fit a Mahle condenser, which they say are often original fit and they have good experience with.
If I can source the correct Mahle condenser (£100 ish) and fit myself (£60 degas and regas at local aircon specialist) I will save myself £230.
I've done this before, but the replacement condenser options were easy to understand.

A search on the Mahle parts website for A2045000654 gives 2 results.

AC 786 000S, which is about £90

AC 786 000P, which is about £280

Denso doesn't list the 'in' and 'out' tube diameters for the condenser pipework.
The cheaper Mahle condenser lists 13.8mm in and out.
The more expensive Mahle condenser lists 13mm and 14mm in and out.

The dimensions shown on all the drawings provided by the manufacturers are useless, as they all take different measurement points e.g. Mahle vs Mahle, one uses total condenser bracket width and the other uses fixing hole centre to centre for the width.

The rubber o-rings from Mercedes for the in and out pipework are the same size and part number (A0209977645), at what is reported 9.5 x 2.6 (I assume this is the ID and o-ring thickness in mm).

Help.
Which condenser do I buy?

Possibly answering my own question here, but on the Mahle website, the part number ending in P says comes with pressure switch and dryer.
The same part number that ends in S only comes with a dryer.

Seeing as I picked up a genuine pressure switch already, new, for £27, I think I can go with the AC 786 000S

I went with the Mahle AC 786 000P as I was advised by someone in the trade that this one is much higher quality and better fit, hence the difference in sizes quoted.

Having fitted it, I can confirm it was a perfect fit.

In the end, I bought one from dusty789blue from eBay for £214
