I've just bought a 2004 E320 CDi the water in the rad is clear, so I dont think there is any antifreeze in it, should the antifreeze be blue or red...

anti freeze can be blue, green, red or yellow.

If it is clear i would think it is just water too.

There is an antifreeze made by comma which is green, which meets the mercedes specs, i think its called g48.

mix 50:50

Before you commit to anything though, find out whether you car requires a specific antifreeze, this should be specified in the handbooks.

hope that helps

Hi Jonathan

Looked at Euro car parts and Halfords, both state Blue should be changed every 2 years and Red 5 years, but you should not mix them.
Thanks for your help....:thumb:

That is true, you should not mix antifreezes.

They are made up of different things.

When i said mix 50:50 i mean with water. Deionised water is best for this.

Halfords sell the comma g48, when i change my thermostat i am going to change my antifreeze, and will be using the g48, after flushing the system
