Looking up brake pads on the various sites, I see there are two options for my car, Lucas and Brembo.
Is there a way of finding out which type is fitted from the VIN?

It starts WDB203207

I'm looking for pads, but there are two different types (different shape) depending on which system is fitted.

Thanks for the offer. I have the MB part number (EPC through Club), but it doesn't identify the braking system fitted to the car.

Brake pads from motor factors like Eurocarparts and GSF refer to either Lucas or Brembo systems and that's what I want to find out, ideally without having to remove a wheel. Even that might not tell me which type is fitted, as I believe other manufacturers supply calipers for the different systems.

Aren't Brembo the sports pack brakes?

They could be, but I'm no expert in these matters :)

My old diesel has 15 inch wheels if that helps.

Thanks!

The front pads are A0054206220.

Incidentally, the front left caliper is part number A0034202183 if that helps.

Just to mention, it's worth trying your main dealer for pads and discs. I just bought genuine rear discs and pads cheaper than I could find any aftermarket but you have to ask for discount.

they are ECP number 101220578 (Pagid)

:D Pat

am I right in thinking that Pagid makes the pads that MB put in a box with a Star on it?

Are the pads the same?

Am I right in assuming these will fit my CLS55?

Also, who makes discs for MB for the CLS55?

Pagid, Textar, ATE, have all supplied MB pads at some point -

As for discs, again, ATE, Zimmermann and other companies produced these for MB

Who actually supplied MB with the ones fitted on your year/make/model i'm not sure. (it can even differ by month depending on availability of parts)

The best rule of thumb is go with a trusted brand (anybody who supplies MB is trusted)

If you want me to check the exact pads / discs for your CLS drop me an email with your reg!

I fitted the pagid pads to mine, work as good as the originals.
