My rear tyre was totally worn down to the wire on the inner rim....suggests a bush needs replacement but which one....phoned GSF but they said theres a multitude of differnt rods and bushes...

Thankyou in advance:bannana::bannana:

well it needs a lot more investigation.. you need to see if any bushes are actually worn... an MOt garage can help with this..

Also could just be your tracking that needs sorting.

Could be....have not had it checked yet... only drivers side rear tyre was shot on the inside and worn on the outer edge.

Regards tracking does that mean its adjustable on the rear too?

Typically it would be the camber strut part 56 here. Êàòàëîã (notice its adjustable) but some of the SL guys will know for sure.

Actually above is not correct.

56 is the camber strut but it is not adjustable.

The only adjustment on the rear is the toe and that is 104 (tie rod).

When purchasing that, it is best to buy it complete as opposed to buying the bush kit.

It has a balljoint one end (wheel end) and the metal encased rubber bush at
the other end (subframe end). The subframe end has large oval washers like the front wishbone to adjust position of tie rod inward or outward to get tracking of rear wheels correct.

I just changed mine last weekend because of inner tyre wear (I have changed absolutely everything else including all subframe mounts etc) and indeed the bolt going through the bush was welded to the bush and hence the tracking was out . Both sides were the same - totally seized - had to saw them off.

However it would be prudent to get the whole of the rear suspension inspected by an experienced person that is familiar with the failings.

Will do....thanks. Its going in for rear brakes and pads tomorrow so will get the garage to have a good old look around.

Substitute Kate for George.
