Looking at a range of performance saloons / estates but have almost settled on a C63. Don't really want to pay interest and depreciation on a W205, so settled on a W204.

Seen this:
2013 White MERCEDES-BENZ C CLASS 6.3 C63 AMG MCT 5dr for sale for £28480 in Macclesfield, Cheshire

and this:
2014 White MERCEDES-BENZ C CLASS 6.3 C63 AMG MCT 4dr for sale for £28500 in Leicester, Leicestershire

The former is estate, which I want, is (I think, judging by bhp) Performance Pack, which is nice, and has HK sound as well as a two year AMG warranty.

BUT the latter has far fewer miles, is newer and doesn't have the red leather which I personally really don't like.

Any thoughts from afficionados on which way to go?

I don’t think it’s performance pack. You can check on the Mercedes website as it was an optional extra. But it doesn’t have the red brake callipers or the part alacantara steeeing wheel. Not sure if the estate has some form of carbon fibre rear spoiler. Also PP takes it up to 480ish BHP

Hi Bestbaldmannever, they both look good, from my perspective if you need space, you will need to get the estate, as the saloon (i have one myself) just about fits 2 reasonably sized adults in the back. Once again personally, low mileage is the one for me always, and you should be able to negotiate some money off the price and get it closer to £26k. Neither are PP models as you can tell (but not always) as there is no alcantara sterring wheel and carbon fiber spoiler, also bhp for standard is ~457 and PP is ~487. My 2 cents, although you will certainly enjoy either one!

Jrattan is right you could get them as optional extras, the only way to know for sure is to get the VIN decoded and look at the datacard,

No, it isn't PP... was getting confused with one of the many others I'm looking at!

Thanks. I think I'd prefer the estate, but would take a saloon if the right one came along.

I usually prefer low mileage and newer over everything else, but the two year AMG warranty is attractive as it's backed by main dealer instead of third party.

Any idea what depreciation is likely to hit these and other vehicles in this range over two years and circa 12k miles? Just trying to work out budgeting. Obviously fuel will be the major expense!

Thanks... It's lovely, but with the kids I really need a four door, and ideally an estate.

Also just to clarify, before anyone asks, the edition 125 is no different. It just means it was a 2010 production year car i.e. the 125th year of existence in MBs history

There is a white 14 plate coupe edition 507 at my work for sale, i know its not what the op is after but have heard these things are uber rare, are they?

They are pretty rare. As opposed to £26k-£29k for a decent condition 13/14 plate, you're looking at around £40k!

Not sure why the premium is still holding tbh, no reason for it in my eyes.
Cost £10k more brand new, some have an even higher premium on trade today... I don’t see it

Its a personal thing but, for me, the estate all day long! (a minor detail but I don't like those wheels on the saloon either)

Go for the Estate. HK is nice and the extra space is damm handy.

Forget PP or 507, save your money for an LSD which is nigh on essential on one of these. It's like a three legged dog without it.

How much is a LSD? If it's as bad as you suggest without it, maybe I'll consider a different car...

It’s not un-driveable, plenty of people don’t have it and are happy. Some people have had both and say the difference isn’t significant.

It’s around £1400 max I think.

Test drive is the best way.

Just been sent the walk around video of the estate. It does look lovely, but I really am not a fan of the red leather, especially when it's worn through a bit on the front seat bolsters. Is this a common issue and how easy is it to fix?

Yes exactly. Test drive and see for yourself.

I've had a few performance cars with and without LSDs and to be honest, this is the only one that for me, it is close to essential. You have sledgehammer torque right from tickover without any turbo lag, coupled with the smallest tyres for any car of this type. Both in terms of width and circumference. I still liked the car before and now love it with an LSD.

Another friend has just bought a stock C63 coupe and thought he could do without, but is now ordering a Quaife. YMMV, drive them!

Whichever way you go, it is a traction limited car which is great fun to balance on the throttle and enjoy that wonderful big V8.
