Just wondering if there are any recommended companies / forum sponsors who maybe specialise in Mercedes?

I rang my ST insurers Greenlight, to get a new quote and they wouldn`t insure me  I`m 50 and got refused insurance haha!!!

I even got a price from.................................SAGA  They were too expensive (£490)

Cheapest so far (through Confused.com) is Hastings at £318 which is quite good.

Chris Knott were the cheapest for me, discount if you are in the MBO as well.

Keep phoning around. What's cheap for me will be different for you. Don't forget the mainstream insurers.

Privilege were good for me before I did any modifications.

Chris Knott as mentioned above are sponsors on the other side and seem reasonably competitive.

Over the last 10 years we've bounced between Privilege and Aviva depending on price.

I've found their direct quotes better than the comparison sites.

Some people seem to get better prices on comparison sites - we don't - I think this maybe because I have business use. If you go direct to Privilege or Aviva they don't seem to load for this. The comparison sites tier the offerings more so some things become more of an upsell.

I second Aviva....they were very competitive but what I have found is that you need to shop around every year.

I have a preference for Privilege and Aviva also but there are so many variables that I would suggest trying these two and also the comparison sites.

Remember it's not just about cost, however, you never really know how good your cover is until you make a claim.

Maybe, have a look for Defaqto 5* policies for some reassurance.

Hastings quoted me happy for a W214, 30k miles a year, 51 yr old male fully comp protected NCD for £279.00 living in Essex. Repeat £279.00!

Aye, being old does have its advantages sometimes.

Last year it was £284 and this year 426 and I'm 62 and 2000 miles ayear driver

My SLK was 198.00 p.a. Protected NCB Age 70 + Direct Line.

Yeah good thinking.

I'd love a premium of £318, mine is more than twice that at 32yo

Damn youngsters :D

Do they still use the ummmmm, difficult call centres???

Yeah that`s very true mate about how good a policy is :thumb:

Until you suddenly realise that you now crawl out of bed in the mornings as opposed to jumping out a few years ago :(:(

I'd say Aviva, just renewed with them as even the renewal was cheaper that elsewhere.

£355 for 29yo with 10k miles a year Protected NCB and legal cover on a new W205 C220d Sport wasn't bad I thought. Next closest was Direct line at £384

Privilege has given me the cheapest quote for the last 3 years,I have shopped around for the last 20 years but cannot beat them,£293 for W221 S320 11,000 a year fully comp protected NCB .

Thanks for all the helpful replies. looks like I have a few places to get in touch with :thumb:

Well....fancy leaving car insurance till a bank holiday weekend haha.

Chris Knott were closed and are going to call back but by then it`ll be too late :(
Flux wanted £385
Privilege £523
Direct Line £433

So I went with the original Hastings quote at £320....went up £2 :D

At least it`s sorted for Monday now.

I've insured my E55 with Hastings the last two years. Still under £250 fully comp with NCD protected.
