Hi all,
I've had a 300TE 4matic 1991 for the last ten years.
Kept in good nick and hopefully will see me out.
wanted to change the diff oil and had a look in my WIS -
WIS refers to sheet 235.3 - 'special' Hypoid oil for limited slip diff
A 001 989 89 03 (10)
Went to my local MB workshop and he eventually located some in Germany
Filled it in yesterday - when I got home I had a look on the can and it said
'Gear oil' 235.3
On checking the MB sheet 235.3 it now says:
'Gear oil for manual gearboxes'
that can't be right ??
Anyway, I've got the stuff in at the moment and am worried that I might do damage to the diff
Does anyone know what is going on and which diff oil I should actually
fill this diff with?
As I said, it's an ASD/4matic diff which according to the WIS requires the 'special' hypoid diff oil.
Would be grateful for any help and advice.
(the MB chap also seems to have problems to find any information)
Thanks
