What year is your W202 .. is it facelift or pre-facelift ? You have the choice of the two square pipe back box (available as an accessory part for the W202) as fitted to the C36, or the two oval pipe back box, as fitted to the C43, and others ... eBay is a good place to start looking ... or you might be able to persuade GrahamC230K to sell you his as he's getting rid of his car this weekend .. I've still got a standard W202 exhaust back box in my garage Graham, by the way just ready to be fitted back on to something .... ;)

i would prefer the twin oval type exhaust.

if graham does want to sell it, i'll take it.....is his one the oval?

    high-lo, i've sent koolvin a pm....hopefully, he's still got it...........

    Where are you Paulmb?

Sym is not so far from me, this could work if

1). You are willing to buy the exhaust, I'll think of a price!
2). You could come to Aylesbury.

Sym is a 2 hour round trip away but I could collect the stock pipe and head back to a place in Aylesbury that fitted my exhaust for the swap.

I have very little spare time available though, but if you are localish and flexible it could work.

Please be aware the AMG pipe I have from a V8 car is louder by far than your stock pipe.

See the classifieds section - I have various odds and sods for sale - including the whole car - which at the moment is still complete.

    Peter .....

When ever i clean exhaust tips, i use carb cleaner and a metal pan scourer ..

They're not hard enough to damage the chromework, but the carb cleaner dissolves the black sooty grime and the scourer removes it nicely , then wipe off with paper towel .....

I'll bring some to the GTG on Sunday if you like .....

I use Autosol chrome polish. This is far more delicate!

I use silvo on my exhaust tip and it comes up a treat without damaging the surface with scratches. Its about £2.50 for a 75 gram tin and its just like a wadding, pull off as much as you need and give it a good rub :p simple but effective and then just wipe clean afterwards with a tissue or rag

It'll fit. It's quite loud on mine, but my understanding is turbos supress noise and superchargers increase exhaust noise. So on your normally aspirated it should be like mine or little quieter.

Just liasing with Sym then shall get back to you. Please let me know if you are not commited and willing for a quick transaction as I do not want to go to the effort of getting the pipe off if you do not buy. If you PM me a number for you, I'll call you for a chat when i have a few things organised.

    Graham

    Nope , works fine ....

Not a brillo pad mind ...... just one of those that gets caught in the pot handle whenever you scrub it, reasonably coarse ...

    Doesn't damage it a bit .....

Give them a call. They know that pipe intimately! They have put it on and off.

The guy that will probably answer the phone - he'll remember me! I think the actual fitter that has done the work both times is called Melv. or something like that.

    Expect about £30 for fitting.
