Which iCarsoft reader?

A friend of mine bought the iCarsoft MB V2 for his 1998 G wagen and also bought an old style MB 38 Pin to OB2 diagnostic plug adaptor .
He says It should work on any MB 1990 onwards with the adapter. He works for MB so should know.

I was advised that the iCarsoft V1.0 with a 38 pin connector would be the best tool for w202. I am quite confused and would like to take a first hand opinion here if anyone uses the same tool model

I have the 1+4 iCarsoft scanner. I have used it on W210 and W211, plus Ford and Volvo cars. It's useful being able to add other manufacturers to it.
