which oil?

On reading my copy of the service sheet for the "B" service my car received last week (under a Service-Plus contract) I see;

Oil Type: MB 229.5 Customer choice

I certainly didn't state a preference, I don't know what MB 229.5 type is!

Could someone enlighten me?

Some detail on MB 229.5:

I am shocked at this comment on oil, why pay ££££ for a car and then complain when service oil is £30 or £40 pounds more than you can get it for.
Who in their right mind would service a vehicle using fluids supplied by the customer and run the risk of the customer coming back with a warranty claim??

Perhaps you would consider asking an airline to let you help fly the aircraft, as you are cheaper than the regular pilot.

Why not simply buy a car you can afford to run!!!

Members on this forum own a wide range of vehicles, old, cheap and cheerfull, new and expensive. We all choose to do things our own way and in line with our own budgets. Some of us (like myself) could afford to run a newer model and pay for main dealer servicing but choose not to.

It is a bit below the belt having a dig at those of us who choose not to use main dealer servicing and implying that if we cannot afford it we are not worthy of driving a Merc :mad:
