Go with the petrol.

Cheaper, lower mileage, similar fuel figures, lower tax, petrol is cheaper, cleaner, no DPF to have issues with, more powerful, it'll purr like a kitten, not chugg like a tractor.

Seems no contest to me. :dk:

Are they pretty reliable these petrol versions? Someone told me the C200 CDi was pretty noises....I do on average 120 miles a week..

I have a C200cdi, yes it's noisier than a petrol, well at very slow speeds, and waiting at lights, however it is a very comfortable cruiser with adequate power for my needs and with 50mpg on a run, it suits me.

I certainly wouldn't touch a diesel with 120 miles a week. 120 miles a day maybe, not a week...

If you want to pay a few hundred quid more for a car that's nearly double the mileage, so you get to pay more in tax and more at the forecourt then decision made. :thumb:

A colleague had exactly that engine before he upgraded to the 2012 model which is turbo charged rather than supercharged, but for the 18 months he had the 09 model nothing went wrong.

I would go with the Petrol car.

Iv been to see the C180 and have paid a deposit on it. Just short of 47k miles, two services at a Mercedes dealer and two at a Mercedes specialist in Glasgow. No service book but Iv ordered a duplicate and will send it off to get stamped up. Do have service invoices to prove its all been done.

Lovely smooth car to drive. Advertised at £9850 but it v paid £10075 which includes a 12 months AA gold warranty for peace of mind. I guess I could have worked a bit harder to get money off but in fairness I liked the car and was happy to pay a tad more for a peace of mind warranty..

Will get some pictures up soon....fingers crossed it will be reliable.

I believe these cars do not actually have a printed service book anymore - it's all electronic records now and kept on MB's central computer system.

Eliminates fraud....

Low mileage petrol everytime....from a diesel driver of numerous years.

Had a petrol 180 C class no where near as good as the 220 diesel I had before now drive a 350 V6 diesel and it is the best car I have ever had the torque and acceleration are fantastic and I can get over 50 mpg on a run from a 3 litre enough said
