Which One?

That Union guy should shut TFU as all he is doing is causing news and press sensation.

Easy solution
drop the new car prices and sales might pick up,certain manufacturers are putting up prices by 5%,are they for real, why should the goverment pump money into these companies force them to use the profits they have made in the BOOM.

Unions were supposed to be useful (and were in the 20s as they made working conditions better for workers) but now I think they are useless dinosaurs that are just a drain on taxpayers, companies and workers themselves.

I think they singlehandly killed the British manufacturing industry in the 70s. We are crap at what we do, but want more money and we not going to work until we get it.

Result geniuses British Leyland down the toilet

The union are playing politics with the jobs of all these people and are trying to blackmail the government into underwriting the motor manufacturers.

So, if any plant shuts, they can say - told you so!

It appear that it's the LDV van plant. Its owned by the Russian company GAZ run by Oleg Deripaska http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleg_Deripaska
he of Baron Peter Mandelson / Russian Oligarch Yacht fame. They are asking for £30 MILLION as part of a proposed "management buyout" to prevent plant closure. I would suggest Oleg dips into his own pocket since he has a rouble or two himself.

This announcement will not affect 6000 jobs it will affect 23,000 in total

But I'm sorry why should the government bail out this or any other industry including the banks. If businesses did not see this coming and did not plan for it then why should the public ultimately pay for their lack of foresight and business sense?

I agree. Perhaps he could sell Mandy a few shares: he seems to have a bob or two as well.

Good riddance to LDV - I'd let em rot! Every one I've ever driven was dreadful - poor build quality, things falling off 6 month old vehicles, dreadful gearboxes.
