Hi.

It's probably been on here before, but just had 2 Pirelli P6000's on the CLK, ordered 4 but thankfully they only had 2 and slapped them on the rears. However as reported on here they appear to be a dreadful tyre. The traction is awful, lots of the orange triangle in the speedo.

Dad does lots of business with the garage who supplied them so they have agreed to take them off and put another set of tyres of my choice on. I was looking at the Good Year F1 GS-D3, anyone had any experience of these.

Your help as always is much appreciated.

There are lots of threads on tyre choices Chris (some are very recent), its probably worth a quick search just to learn a few other opinions.

You'll get as many answers as there are tyres in the world, but I swear by the Michelin Pilot Sport 2s fitted to my CLK 230. Very grippy and quiet and good in the wet.

Good luck in your choice.

Hi Andy

Just having a quick look around and it seems the F1's are a reasonable all-rounder.

I have continental sports on my CLk which grip very well. These are standard fitment to new CLK's. I got mine with my wheels!

Have you had the Conti's since you've had the car Alfie? How did they compare to what you had on before?

I had PZero's on the back before I put the Pilot Sports on and they were getting seriously slidey, not to mention droning more than a moody mother in law.

I had Pirelli's on when I first got the car and then I changed the wheels for a set of new W209 CLK wheels which came with the continentals on already. I think the continental's grip better in the wet and the dry.
