Would welcome some advice from you experts out there.

My 2001 E320cdiAvantgarde Estate has a full mb service history and only 46k on the clock. I intend keeping the car for another 3 years minimum

I wondered if I should take out a warranty with WARRANTY WISE or WARRANTY DIRECT ? I can not tell the difference between them - they are both expensive at about £700 per year, though. What do you think ? Are there any blinding omissions from either policy I should be aware of ?

£700 is alot ! - Are there any other good warranty options I could consider ?

The AA offer breakdown repair cover for about £100 a year.

Other option is to put the £700 under the mattress and retrieve it when a repair or other work is needed. Can also rely on my Mobilo, but thats mostly good will.

Welcome you advice / knowledge / first-hand experience. Many thanks.

Try Tesco warranties. Seems like good cover, much cheaper than what you suggest above, and the Tesco are unlikely to compromise their reputation by putting their name to an inferior service.

If you are good at haggling, Warranty Direct will cut their price to something more realistic & give 13 months for the price of 12. I got them down to £260

I've just gone with Warranty Direct on my CL55 Kompressor. It's done 80,000 miles and they've given me the Extracare policy and covered COMAND, TV and emmissions at MOT for £600. That's £50/month and I can cancel whenever I want.

Fairly pleased with that as I was paying £500/month for my standard CL500. Not needed to claim and still under Merc Tier 2, so we shall see how it pans out over the year.

Price pails into insignificance if they don't pay out on the claim..

I have just had a claim via Warranty Direct -- approved within 24 hours and cheque back to me before credit card bill came in....so by that I have to recommend them.

Paying £32 a month for 10 months for 13 months cover - have claimed back best part of £600 so am in pocket. Have gotten Comand agreed to be covered and have also got wear and tear agreed from day 1- usually a 90 day wait for that.

They also agreed to replace one glow plug (Merc said they have never heard of a warranty covering that as it is wear and tear item - Merc wouldn't have covered it.)

Avoid WarrantyWise.
I wish I had....

The AA has by far the best warranty out there. I deal with warranty companies all the time.

I could have swore that the last time I logged onto Tesco site re.Car Warranties - that Mercedes Benz were either excluded,or no cover is offered for this marque ? - can anyone confirm this ?

Tesco do cover Mercedes - including AMG. They put cars into one of two groups - I forget what they actually call them put it's pretty much normal and premium. Mercedes are considered to be premium. Exotic stuff isn't covered. There's a list on the website which explains all.

:dk:Following Bobby Dazzler's advice,I checked out the Tesco Finest Warranty, which does indeed cover Mercedes Benz - @ £419/annum,it even offers MOT Insurance cover and seems pretty comprehensive.I cannot ascertain the price per annum yet,of the AA 'Gold Cover' equivalent product, once again, has many pros, but no MOT failure cover is mentioned, but there are other benefits. As MB have yet to contact me re.my renewal, these seem to be the best cost option - but has anybody had any claims experience,to back these two products up ????

Tesco do not cover cars with an engine size over 3 litres.
and The AA do not cover cars with an engine size over 3.5 litres.
