9/10 and the one mistake was elementary.

8/10 for me

8/10 for me too but with my pedant hat on the New Zealand and Jamaica answers given in the quiz are incorrect.

Anyone know why?

and I'm opening a real can of worms here

The use of England in the case of New Zealand, when it should be the United Kingdom. Reminding myself of the Jamaica question it says in 1700, so it is prior to the Act of Union of 1707, so while possibly anachronistic, England would be a technically correct answer.

I think Druk may be technically correct here! The Moari people had united under the "United Tribes of New Zealand" Flag under encouragement from a Mr. James Busby. Only in 1840 was the Treaty of Waitangi signed and then NZL became a Colony!

The question intro does ask what country controlled it, rather than its colonial status in law. They would be better advised to have chosen 1840 though!

The wikipedia article is a little shy on the necessary detail, I fear, and as New Zealand history is not my specialism or period I have no idea.

However, my betting is that Druk wasn't thinking much about the status in 1836 as opposed to 1840!

8/10

Can't believe I got the Marshal Islands wrong:wallbash:

Taiwan surprised me. I had no idea it was ever held by the Netherlands.
