It doesn't even have an AMG engine cover. This is a naturally aspirated M113 engine.
This is the seller's engine:

This is a N/A M113 AMG cover:

And just for the record here's a "normal" M113 cover, used for the 4.3 and 5.0 litre in the W220 S-Class & C215 CL-Class:

Covers the engine :D

Can't do anything for the cooling... the air filter cover on my CE is like a bin lid, none of this plasticy stuff..

Ade :D

Yes, the NA S55 AMG engine came with the same cover as this CL55.

I am not experienced with different engine types, hence not sure, however the size of the engine bay may have something to do with it?

Maybe they are built using different technologies.

Of course, the later S55/CL55/SL55 came with the V8-Kompresser engines which are easily noticible from a distance!

so he's loading the price for a couple of AMG badges :(

we should all ring him in the morning as he appears to be mis-representing that car in his advert :)

The fact that it's also way too expensive may just put enough people off :)

I contacted the seller about this car asking him if it's a genuine AMG or not...this was his reply.

"Car is Mercedes cl55 amg. In 2000 mercedes didn’t own amg and so sent cars for upgrade. Engine brakes and exhaust all amg. Fitted from new. Call Mercedes to confirm if you like. Kind regards. Rupert."

See if he'll send you the VIN so you can check it out .

I'm almost positive that MB owned AMG before 2000.

That's rubbish, AMG were officially in bed with MB in 1999.
