can anyone help? bought the 97' c250td a few weeks ago and after investigating why the a/c is not working, realised that it's missing 2 hoses both from the front aircon radiator, however the rest of the system seems intact, anyone know other than MB where you can get these from?
i've sourced a new reciever/dryer off ebay for £15 but not having much luck so far with the hoses,
any input :D appreciated

You may as well get a new TX valve. This valve transfers frigid coolant into the heater box. It is about half the size of a packet of cigarettes.

Now that you ran it dry ... time for a new pump.

i've phoned all the scrappys in the phone book, but no w202's, i'm not suprised, the only hope i'll have is if one comes in accident damaged(written off),, i've also submitted a search with a national parts company, i'll let them do the digging, be interesting to see how much they'll charge if they manage to source the hoses, i'm still reluctant to pay £300 at the stealership for 2 hoses...

Where abouts are you based, there's a good air conditioning centre in Surrey called VACS who are very knowledgeable and can supply almost all parts (they also offer a full fitting service as well). Worth trying IMO :)

i'm in rainworth which is north nottingham(sherwood forest)
i've tried my local "phone a hose", but they don't do speciallist hoses, and referred me to a scrappy or the stealership,
is VACS a nationwide company?

Have a look at this link

This is the site that put me onto VACS (who indeed are very good). If you scroll about three quarters the way down the page there are links to "Out of the area" sites.

Hi there,

I don't think they are a nationwide company in the sense of having multiple service centres, but I would assume that they would be able to provide you with parts mail-order, best thing would be to call them :)

Otherise, another company that comes to mind is Pirtek - I'm sure they supply most types of automotive hoses/fittings.

FWIW, I'd want to know the state of the rest of the A/C system before spending too much cash on just hoses etc, they must have been removed for a reason? Worth asking the previous owner?

give dronsfield a ring they keep a good range of new/second hand parts on the shelf

Having given you situation a bit more thought, what do you intend to do when you have the hoses?

Refilling the system yourself, unless you have some pretty specialised kit, is a no no. To fill the A/C you first need to create a hard vacuum in the system. Then you must introduce the correct amount of the correct coolant and oil. Then you must perform a leak check.

Much better to let a good indie (which is what I suspect you intend) do a thorough check on the complete system.

Good luck.
