why has a cl cabrio never happened, but intead you see the likes of the ocean drive concept

after market conversions happen all the time to the cl, but surely the market is huge for ultra expensive cabrios of the cl league... ???

Err...beacuse car cars with roofs are lighter, faster, stiffer, quieter and better?

(duck)

because the sl has covered that
Not really; it is a two seater by any standards other than midgets.

There is a market for convertibles that can take four full sized adults. The E class cabriolet was such a vehicle in the past but sadly the current so called E class coupe is actually a C class coupe. (Check the wheelbase etc). A CL ragtop would be tasty indeed IMO.

a cl cabriolet would compete directly with the bentley azure for sure.. at mo, i still think the w124 competes in terms of class with an azure.. but thats imo only.

most will disagree, but tell me of another cabriolet that can compete with an azure.. excluding the phantom or rolls royce cabriolets

Back in 2007 I saw an MB internal document on future product launches.

The CL Cabrio (baureihe A216) was scheduled for launch in 2010 when the CL is due to be facelifted.

Unfortunately as it is over 12 months since I left MB I can't tell you whether that is still the case.

However, I can't recall a model ever getting as far as being allocated a model number and a launch programme without actually being released.

I would prefer the CL cabrio over the coupe version so long as they hide the soft top.

A CL cab would be a brilliant vehicle and what about the Aston Martin, Ferrari etc?
