I dont know who had a thread earlier saying 230k's were thirsty... but i hope this disproves that rule.

The only thing i did was take a 100mile trip on the motorway, but the other 220miles were very enthusiastic town driving :D

And to be honest, i had another 7 litres of reseve left, so i probably could've pushed out another 20-30miles.. :)

I take it that was from a tank of petrol. Even though I've done a few fill ups and long motorway journeys I haven't taken note of how many miles to a tank. Next time I fill up (most likely after pay day, I shall make note!) although I know I do about 60 miles to £10 fuel. Fill up costs £57 ish = 5.7 x 60 = 342 miles.....

which matches yours pretty much! (very rough estimates I know!)

How big is the fuel tank?

Of the Mercedes I've had I have found them to be quite good on fuel, my E320 V6 averaged 33mpg on my long journeys and my S500 averaged 28mpg.

It usually costs me £50 to fill up because i fill up once the light comes on, and i know that W202's have 62 litres to the full tank, 7 of which is reserve.

£10 of fuel I can just get off our drive :)

Still, love driving the bus though :)

That good eh? £10 only starts the engine on the 500:eek:

I usually get around 60 miles to £20 worth of fuel but then this is mainly town, and Im not shy on the right hand pedal.

I fill the W126 when the light comes on - usually takes about 75-80 litres - this gets me 330 - 350 miles on a mixture of town and country driving .

How can you tell when you're now in reserve? Have never been able to tell.

In my W208 (same generation as W202 I think) I drove for as long as I dared and the petrol gauge was nearly on 0, even then I could only put 57 litres in after 380 miles.

Christ, i regulary get 370 miles out of my C240 Estate, you must have been ragging it, and i hardly drive like a biddy ;)

So is it 7 litres when light comes on? I was thinking when it got under red light, at 0.

The tank's nominal capacity on a W202 C230K is 62 litres. It is possible to brim the tank to the lip of the fuel pipe which squeezes in another 4 litres. If the tank is brimmed, then sensible motorway driving will see 115 miles before "full", 200 miles before "3/4" and 300 miles before "1/2". I think I could achieve 440 miles before the light comes on. 62L +4L - 7L = 59L @ 7.5MPL. Note that after driving a long distance, when the engine is switched back on again, the fuel gauge never (in my experience) returns precisely to the prior reading - it's always a little less.

I got 115 miles until it got to FULL, I was well impressed! Miracle tank! :D

Yeah the reason i'm impressed that it still gave me over 300 miles is because i was ragging it alot of the time :)

Thats why you need a new diff!!
