I think that is not relevant I was told about a mates CLK that had a switch under warranty when 12 months old, name other makes that go through brake switches like Mercedes doHow old is the car, how many miles covered?
They are a very common faultFirst time I've heard of one failing
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence!I think that is not relevant I was told about a mates CLK that had a switch under warranty when 12 months old, name other makes that go through brake switches like Mercedes do
It is probably since they went to purely mechanical switches which need to be in the pedal box , and usually in a cheap plastic housing .It's not just Mercedes. All brake pedal switches are subject to water ingress from wet feet. Least they are not overly expensive and relatively easy to diy replace.
As stated I've had MBs for over 20 years - never had a problem so I'm not going to start worrying. They are a very common fault

In my earlier cars , the brake light switch was hydraulically actuated and usually screwed into the master cylinder . Being a sealed metal unit water ingress wasn’t an issue , although they could fail in later life .
