ML350Cdi BE now replaced, E220 2013MY just for a bit.....
After missing the CLS for a few weeks been looking around the auctions and am very tempted by (what I was looking for in January) an ML350BE Sport 2010......its a nice one with 37K FMBSH one owner etc etc.

So....why shouldn't I buy it?

We both like the high driving position of SUVs and after having a 12MY 350 over last Christmas were totally impressed by the refinement and smooth ride of the ML.

Well?

Tell me quick.....the auctions tomorrow

Sorry can't help at all.

Can't think of a reason why you shouldn't buy it (at the right price)

Then again I might be a bit biased!

There are only two reasons you shouldn't treat yourself to the things you want;

1. You can't afford it.

2. Your wife/partner makes all the decisions and what she says goes.

Because it's an ML and they are carp :dk: far better out there for the money :thumb:

I like the ML currently have a MY12 plate 350 and have owned a 280 before that. Have owned a number of other suv's including Lexus hybrid, RR sport, Cayenne and an Amazon. If i was to renew I would likely stick with the ML or go back to the cayenne, lexus was ok rr shocking and I loved the amazon but it was a bit farm tractor like.

if you like them go for it at the right price of course

Cayenne would be my choice too :thumb:

I have the ML250 BT Sport W166, and I am really impressed, have done 6k miles so far, and enjoyed every one.

I had a W163, and that was carp, apart from the engine. Then had a Lexus RX and loathed it.

I've had two, the diesel was ok but the V8 was fine. No problems at all in three years with the 270cdi and nothing of note over about five years with the 500.

i've had one and I'll never go back there again complete load of carp and a money pit, never again  Had Cayenne, lexus, disco and non of them ever missed a beat but that ML I reckon they let primary school kids assemble mine

Thankfully both points do not apply ;)

Ugly f:crazy:r......the car, not you! :D

Had a good look at one at Colchester yesterday, 2008 50K excellent condition nice blue met all the toys but oh dear, how ugly......like the IRA tried to blow up a 911 but didn't put enough charge in!

I assume it was a fairly early model?

There is also a 08 ML420 available.....no nav unfortunately (for resale) but airmatic and 66K...again FMBSH......tempted at first by the lure of a stonking V8 diesel.......but head started to over power heart thankfully.

It was indeed 52 plate but it put me off them for life, I've driven several since and must admit they still don't do it for me although I must admit I believe reliability has improved, the last one I drove was a 10 plate but it was nowhere near the cayenne.

The last Disco I drove was a LR development vehicle MY12 but with a 500bhp JLR engine fitted, now that made a big impression :D but despite the fact it had obviously been cobbled together it was well finished and handled like a dream.......there was a problem with calibration though and it needed to be refilled between Solihull and Essex

Unfortunately it was never intended for production just component testing.

Was being driven around Cornwall last year in a RR Autobiography, nice car but not for me........just something about it shouted RPG too much and not punter ;)

"ML Sport", an oxymoron surely, how can a large, slab sided, heavy 4x4 be a "Sport"? I know lots of other makers use the same stupid title but that is no excuse. Unless it means good for taking you to sport.

Oh, I am sure an ML55 might change your perception

Then again maybe the designer spent time in Australia, he thought it was just a big friendly car :thumb:

I have to say, I had an ML270 Inspiration new back in 2003 and really liked it, even though I was in my late twenties and had come from BMWs, but heard loads of horror stories about them.
10 years on and I bought a forum members off him a few months back, it has been great, really enjoying it. I actually bought it thinking I might move it on, but decided just to keep it. Averaging 28/29mpg which is a bit more than my one did when new, and when it isn't depreciating like a new car who cares anyway.

I have put a Pioneer double din DAB unit in there which has freshened up the cabin a treat and just about to put some Michelin Latitude Tour HP tyres on all round on 235 width rather than the 255 or 275 they came with, seems a lot of the new 4x4's are getting narrower tyres to help mpg slightly and reading up seems those that have swapped say it makes it drive nicer too. We shall see.

Mine is about to hit 100k miles and it feels good.

Also drive a MY2010 ML350 cdi a fair bit too as my old man swapped his 530d GT for one, nice car. However, not sure I would buy one of those, plastics don't feel as nice, interior doesn't feel quite as luxurious etc.
