On my S204 facelift the COMAND 4.5 screen is fixed but I believe pre-facelift it was motorised. Why did it change? Strikes me as a backward step. Just curious

On the same note, anybody have a picture or details of the audio rear please (planning to add a reversing camera)

Aesthetics?

Cost savings, another item to break, looked cheap and nasty, noone ever had it closed...

Pre-facelift 204 dash its horrid!

Have a look at pre-facelift W204 cars parked in the street, many will have the screen stuck halfway between fully up and fully down...

Also, it's a gimmick that serves no purpose (I think Vovlo were the first to use a pop-up infotainment screen), in an age when no driver is likely to drive with the screen folded down.

In the olden days of standalone radios, having the radio out of sight while parked was a sensible idea, but since infotainment system became integrated with the dash, they no longer tempt the opportunistic thief.

I rather like it and also frequently drive with it down to hear the V8
