Will 195 65 15 tyres fit on wheels described as 205 tyre width ,50 aspect ratio,15 rim diameter & look ok, or pathetically too narrow ? Anyone tried it ? I'd be reluctant to buy any 205 tyres because iv only recently bought new 195 michelins.

No idea, the steel wheels on my car at the mo are 6 1/2 J x 15 H2, but as yet i don't know the 'J' of the alloys

Thanks Phil, i'm still waiting to hear if he knows what 'J' they are, they are the standard sports MB alloys for a 202,or so he says.

On a 15, probably 7 or 7.5, still a 195 won't stretch on that.

I'll put it on here as soon as i hear from him, thanks

Circumference of the 205/50/15 is approx 72.5" and the
circumference of the 195/65/15 is approx 78.5"
Rev's per mile are 902 (205) and 833 (195) so the sidewall on the 195 is a lot larger, taller if you like.
Tyres, the 195 = mm wide across the tread and the next figure is the size of the sidewall and it's a % of that width so 50% of 205 is 102.5 (tall) and on the 195 it's around 127mm tall, the last figure is obviously the size of the wheel to which the tyre is mounted, my opinion is that's a big difference.
Standard 195/65/15 is probably a C Class, 205/50/15 would not have enough sidewall to give a good ride, the sidewall also has some "give" to gently turn into corners and bends etc.
Sorry if this sounds patronising, :thumb: i used to work for a great tyre company and there not all the same, tyres really are important.:)

Hi,
Depending on age and equipment spec. different tyre profile can cause the traction control system, ABS, BAS, and Cruise control to malfunction.
Though with 15" rims with the tyre size you have quoted I believe you,ll be ok.

Steve-O & Andy27168, Thanks for your reply, but perhaps i didn't explain well, i want to keep using the 195 65 15 tyres, but on the 205 wheels, will that be ok/look right ? The 195's are on my 202 C220.

Just waiting for the spec of the wheel and then we can comment properly.

Is the wheel 7 inch or 7.5 inch or whatever ?

Basically if the wheel is 8" wide, it'll look slightly stretched and not ideal. The wheels are most likely 7 or 7.5, so the 195s will be fine.

Thanks Phil, i'm still waiting for the owner to contact me.

195mm =7.67" so if it's a 7.5" you might be ok as has been posted above, but if it's an 8" i wouldn't, it will not drive right and if you have an accident you might find the insurance looking for a way out.......if you know what i mean.

Thanks Steve,as has been said by others above, they all expect them to be 7 or 7.5 so all good, owner still not replied

After all that guys, it turns out they are not 15" alloy wheels, but 16", sellers mistake. Thanks again to Jazz for spotting that & saving me a wasted journey to Essex !
