Will a Dell copy of MS Works install OK on a Sony PC?

I've got an unused copy of MS Works 7.0 that came with my Dell PC. I have MS Office Pro, so I've never used it.

My dad just bought a new Sony, which only has a demo. (time-limited) copy of Works on it. He can't find the software CDs for his old PC

Would there be any issues in giving him my Works CD (still sealed)? Is there anything in a Dell OEM version that will stop it running on other hardware?

It doesn't even need a licence key. It got a tracking id. StarOffice available for free somewhere from Corel/Sun?

I think that a lot of the Dell bundled software looks for a Dell machine before it will install

Open Office is a better option anyway

Hi!

Software will check in bios for a DELL KEY (famous attack for Vista).
Try- as suggested- OpenOffice.
