2011 E350 CDI SPORT Saloon
Hi guys, basically I have the 2011 E350 CDI SPORT Saloon which came with 18 inch AMG alloy wheels.

I do around 40-50k miles a year mixture of town and motorways and will have to change tyres more often which in 18 inch size form is abit too expensive.

Well my real goal is for a better ride quality as Im sure smaller size wheels makes a difference.

Just so you guys know, I have literally read through all other threads regarding this question but couldnt get a definitive answer from them. Thanks...

I used to use 16-inch winter wheels on my W212 E350CDI Avantgarde, but afaik, they wouldn't fit over the brake calipers on the Sport model - clearance was very tight, but adequate, on the Avantgarde - although I never managed to find any documentation to confirm that :(

The standard 17-inch wheels on the Avantgarde had miles of clearance over the calipers, so I'd be surprised if they wouldn't fit on the Sport. For reference, as the front and rear wheels were the same size on my car I swapped front to rear when I refitted the wheels after each winter, and achieved about 20k miles on the set of summer tyres.

I see thank you. My mate has the 2010 E220 Cdi saloon avantgarde with 17 inch wheels. I was thinking I might just do a swap with him.

Will I have to do any adjustments to the car when changing the size of wheels?

If you have access to an Avantgarde car that you can try the wheels from, that will confirm it one way or the other. You only need worry about clearance on the front calipers, so if they're ok on the front, they'll be fine on the rear too.

No need to adjust anything on the car, other than restarting the tyre pressure monitor after swapping over the wheels.

Thanks again I will try the 17s, if that fits then I will go for them.

Hi, just started a similar thread today around winter wheel and tyre sizes.

I've got a 2012 E350 CDI saloon and just wondered if you tried the 17's on yours and whether it worked out?

Thanks

Colin
