what is the differance between the windows 7 e and n versions

E is basically the european version after the silly euro antitrust case.

The finals of it arent set in stone yet , but at one point it was going to ship without an internet browser , but the latest is some form of chooser with all available options.

more info here : Windows 7 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Read now that it is planned to be an upgrade and not a new install. But those that had ordered will get full install.

E doesnt include IE as default - however they will now stop producing the E version, and replace it with a normal one with a browser choice option, like so:

Is there still a way of legally downloading any version 7 or has the beta offer ceased being available? Vista is driving me nuts!

Windows 7 has gone live, will be available to TechNet subscribers in a couple of weeks and OEMs about a fortnight after that so the BETA testing is over.

Release candidate is available here but be aware of the limitations come, on 1/3/2010.

It's already available to Technet and MSDN OS subscribers, MSDN AA (academic alliance), and Volume Licence customers. I have my nice shiny Windows 7 Pro 64-bit DVD ready to be installed when I have a day off on Friday. :D

In response to the original question:

E = European version, either no IE or a chooser option.
N = No IE, no Windows Media Player.
K = Korean
KN = Korean, no Windows Media Player.

The Beta is upgrade only, however the RTM release has options of full or upgrade.

We are in Education and Windows 7 has been on my Mini notebook since Thursday last week :)

Quite like it.
