Hi all,
I have a C180, December 1994,my windows/sunroof no longer close automatically when I lock car via key fob,the use to but no longer do so, the operate fine otherwise.

Dose anyone know any tricks on how to resete this feature without going to the stealers. I tried disconecting the battery earth tereminal for an hour but this made no diffrence. Any ideas?

Thanks

No, only when I lock the car via the key fob button, I use to be able to press this button briefly once and any windows/sunroof open would close automaticaly but now the dont, the buttons inside the car work correctaly.

Has the battery been disconected prior to this failure ? Try holding the button rather than a quick press.

May sound silly, but on all the W202s that I have seen (including my own and the one I previously owned, 1996 and 1997 cars) you press and hold the remote fob to close all electric windows and the sun roof.

If this has been done, you can also open all electric windows (not the sunroof however) by holding the fob button whilst unlocking the car also.

HTH :)

do all prefacelift w202's (mines a 1996 C180) have a total closure function as standard?

I have an aftermarket alarm (was there when i bought it) so was wondering if i could hook it up to the total closure.

To answer PJH and Will

The battery has not been disconected prior to this failure and nothing unusual accured.
I tryed holding down the button on key fob for several seconds rather than a quick press but this did not solve the problem.

The feature did work in the way I origionaly described but it seems to have been erased from memory and needs to be reset, hence my origional question.

If you have OEM IR remote locking then yes.Mines a 95 and has this function.I can also open all my windows as well.

Is there a 'total closure' module already in place that the aftermarket alarm can be hooked up to?

So thats it lads ,no ideas?

not sure if this will make a difference but try resetting the 'one press' up and down function on each window. I think you wind the windows all the way down then all the way up, when doing it all the way up keep the switch pressed until it clicks or for atleast 2 seconds after its full closed. Do this for all four windows. Then try the alarm closure again. Worth a try!??!

Thanks Rumble, but I tryed that too with no success, still baffeled.
The stealers wont help the say it has to go on the diagnostic machine. €100 where I live, maby thats the solution will wait till next service,

Thanks all for trying
