Hi there

Has anyone had the problem of the windscreen taking ages to fully demist on the inside.

The worst part seems to be the top section on the drivers side which can take up to 10 minutes to fully clear.

Had the air con regassed 2 years ago and seems to be working fine, would having it done again cure problem.

Driving a CLK 08 plate.

Cheers

Petrol or diesel?

When was the pollen filter replaced last?

Is the car damp inside?

If you have the heater on, lower the temperature to the blue. The cold air demists very quickly in my car, much quicker than the ambient cold air.

Could be a blend flap motor failed, try pressing recirc and demist buttons at the same time it may reset the flaps.

Check that you have a reasonablr amount of air coming out to the demist vents, and both sides are the same.

Pull up the carpet in the front and back floorpan and feel for any dampness indicating leaks. If you have carpets that are even slightly damp, demisting will be a nightmare.

If there's a sweet smell when the heater is set warm/.hot, you may have a matrix leak.

Not good news...

Have you cleaned n wipe the inside windscreen? Loadsa dust n oil particles also makes demisting slower.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions guys

It's a petrol and the pollen filter was changed 2 years ago. Sometimes the rear window seems a bit damp, but no damp in the boot or wet carpet in the front. And no sign of water coming in at the roof seal when cleaning the car.

There's good air coming from all the vents and luckily no sweet smell.

Every couple of weeks I clean the inside windscreen and even tried adding rain-x anti fog.

I'll try the lower heater temperature next time and the reset trick to see if that helps.

Many thanks again for the all advice.

Suggest replacing the pollen filter, or at the very least inspect it for dampness

Is the Red light ON, on the A/C button?

Are the drain holes below the windscrean wipers blocked? Had this problem, damp carpets.

Although with the A/C on and heater on auto the A/C will not operate properly or fully unless you reduce the temperature at which it is set.

You can go manual for demist but the quickest way is to have heat and A/C on auto and just reduce the temp. setting to 18 and away it goes......
