'99 C43 AMG Estate. Black.
My C43 has 'sport' badges either side, mounted on the wing. Not on the metal, on the rubbing strip that runs down the length of the car. They look black with silver writing.
Does anyone know if I can replace them with something more suitable. V8, or AMG perhaps? Is it an easy job? I have seen some fairly rubbish looking ones on ebay, and only want to replace the original if it is going to look good. I remember seeing a photo on here of something similar. Any ideas?
Also my gearknob says sport on it too. Can you get a V8 or AMG insert for the top?
Pedal mod on its way.....

Subtlety is the way mate IMO…!

Badges that are finished in chrome style (stick on ones that are self adhesive) can be sourced that are on the W203 C55 AMG but would look out of place IMO! These are fixed/positioned just above the plastic strip on the front wings. Look very tacky and wax/polish and dirt get stuck around the lettering.

I had V8 wing badges on my last SL - they can be bought on eBay sometimes - you can get them as part of the V8 Kompressor set from MB but they're £30 or so.

The Sport badging is a little odd - sure you have a C43? ;)

Ive seen quite a few w202 and W210 badged as sport and avantgarde respectively . Must be the donor car the use was a sport or avantgarde.

Badged as donor car except for the C36 which started life as a C280 elegance and was rebadged as sport by AMG.

The C43 is practically the same as any other W202 sport, the differences being engine, transmission, brakes and instrument cluster. Everything else is an option.

i bought some ebay amg ones, and have been on my car for a few years now and look as new, they look like the sport ones you currently have but say AMG, nice.. i think theres some pics of them in my gallary

I agree subtlety is the key! I do not want the silver/chrome ones, as they would look wrong I think. I just want a replacement for the existing badge.
According to my main dealer, all C43s have sport badging (donor car).
The AMG badges at the CKS performance don't look right either - too square.
I found some on fleabay - I don't believe the 'ordered from a main dealer in Germany' line, but what do you think? Would I be wasting my money?

Alps, I can't work out how to see your gallery to see how they look! If I click on your name, all I get is a quick summary and your signature.

The one on ebay looks like the one, I think I paid £9 inc postage at the time , so the price is ok.

Okay, thanks Alps, looks good! How about removing the sport badge and replacing it with a V8? A very bad photoshop type (paint!) effort below - not my car but the right colour. Sorry whoever's car it is!
I couldn't get the background colour behind th V8 to match the trim, but it would be just a couple of loose silver letters rather than the printed strip style 'elegance'. Oh, for 'elegance, read 'sport' too!

What do you think?

still think the AMG ones will look better, they look more oem than the V8 chrome ones that yo have photoshop`d :)

The V8 badges are OEM - just not on a C43. I agree the AMG badge looks better. These were mine:

Okay, first step is to get the old badges off. How do I do that? Are they stuck on? I'll clean the area up around it and see what looks good from a blank canvas!

Dental floss and white spirit ....

Slide the dental floss beneath the edge of the badge and gently work it back and forth , effectively sawing through the sticky backing with the floss...

Once the badge is off, use the spirit to get rid of the gunk that will be left ....

The re-wax the area, as the spirit will have stripped the wax off ...

Good luck !

Thanks. Sound like a job for next weekend.
