Hi Guys,
After reading all this spiel about winter tyres and remembering last winter`s fiasco; I bought (luckily for peanuts) 4 - 15" steel wheels from a W210 e200.

They wont fit! They will on the rear but not on the front. (MB2104000202) ET37

Mine`s a 300td Avant g 16" Ronals. ET41

I can only think e200s must have smaller front discs and or smaller calipers.

Can I ; Use 16" on the front with 15" on the rear?
Is that legal?
Will the ABS light come on?

Use them on my W203?

Bin them?

Bad luck Ditchtung. I suspect the balance could be a big issue, notwithstanding any insurance claims. No doubt the BIG Boys will tell you what's a goer!

Thanks Sp!ke, Good idea,

I`ll try and estimate what thickness would be required.

Check your handbook for the correct 15-in wheel fitting

ET37 sounds like a rear but ET41 sounds dead wrong

I cannot get at the handbook but from what I remember each wheel size has a different ET. The handbook lists the correct assortment of wheel sizes available for each model. I do know that my E320 Av will take a 15-in wheel, in fact I think that's what the spare is.

I have 3 handbooks, interior; exterior and driving, and no wheel info in any.
Seems I need a "Technical Data" handbook.

The fact that your 320 Av will take 15s is interesting.

Thanks Jefrs.

Thanks for that jefrs.

I was beginning to wonder if my alloy wheels/calipers were original. :D

Digging a bit further, it looks like MB fitted two types of 15" steels on W210s.

And; sod`s law, I`ve bought the wrong one.

I'm surprised 15s clear the brake callipers.

They don`t; on my 300td AvG.

and here`s the mystery; I saw the car that the 15s came off; and it was an W210 E200. They had been replaced with really big alloys and what can only be described as innertubes.

The way forward as suggested by Sp!ke are spacers, and 20mms would fix it. Not ideal but should be ok in the snow. :(

Quite a few 16"alloys on Euromerc.co.uk, and 17's in singles and sets. One set of 16's for £99!

Just checked, a set of 16" Rucha's for £99.99, perfect for winter tyres.

Thanks for the search fb, and I`ll bear them in mind if I come unstuck with the spacer idea. Cheers. :thumb:
