Went to a funeral on Friday. Had to park on a village green with loads of others. Very very wet and hey ho the merc struggled to keep going on a muddy slight incline . Interesting to watch a colleague's 3 series ,with winter tyres, just power out and away !

I got stuck on a wet playing field (with a slight incline) in my SL a few years back. Switched the gearbox to W (Winter) - problem solved :)

Glad that wasn't my village green.

With modern cars the ASR/ESP/etc. cuts power as soon as the wheels start to slip, so you can't get to the stage of digging ruts in the grass.

What a wonderful way to keep the winter tyres debate going through the summer months... :)

Winter tyres are different to mud and snow tyres. . .

Yes, but they're always marked M+S (because the M+S mark is a legal requirement in countries where and when winter tyres are mandatory).

wanna bet? Plenty of rutting going on in my lawn :bannana: and field on the two occasions I tried to reverse on and drive off as gently as possible with ASR on - ended up getting my tractor BOTH times to pull me out - Ill get a pic if you want....

admittedly the back tyres are as bald as a coot, and the grass is sodden. Winter tyres are in the barn awaiting winter.....

Guy,
I've just been reading up on the developments at Gotopia, it sounds like it's coming along nicely.
I could have probably given some advice re the GSHP and solar stuff and definitely beaten the supplier on knowledge, quality and cost for solar.

An interesting read.
