I thought I'd try aftermarket wipers on my SL when the old ones started to judder. I bought a pair of Trico Neoform blades online and duly installed them on my car. They've been on a few weeks and have started to judder and will not wipe round the bend on the nearside part of the windscreen so I decided to replace them with OEM ones again. I got a pair at the dealer this morning and they worked out £3 cheaper than the aftermarket ones. No judder and wiping the full screen again.

Needless to say, I think I'll stick with MB wipers from now on.

MB had to get the wipers right as the "panoramic" single-wiper setup was so poor! :)

I have a new screen, new wiper blade and OEM washer fluid and the blade is near-silent. I still fancy an aero style one though when my current one runs out.

I had the single wiper on my W210 and it never caused me any problems, I would go back to a single wiper any day... :thumb:

I've had OEM & Aftermarket ones both make juddering which is realy annoying me, to the point that when it rains i'd rather stay in, thinking about ordering new wiper arms just to see if it cures the prob,

TOP TIP

When you wash your car with an additive shampoo, clean the screen afterwards with glass cleaner and then treat with Rain X.

Also, after you have cleaned the car, clean each wiper blade with glass cleaner. Notice the results.

I love my single wiper setup ...

Cleans so much more of the screen than the dual wipers ever did .

Best thing ever !

Correct wiper fluid is the key, combined with using the right stuff to wash your car with.

Use cheap shampoo on your car and it'll leave a film on the windscreen which aggravates the problem.

Oh... and never use rainex....

I've read on here that the MB screenwash is good for stopping juddering, I've used both MB and Asda £1 stuff and can't remember if there's a big difference but I'm sure others will.....

Try grasing the wiper mechanism. The single wiper on my C200 used to judder but hasn't since I greased a few weeks ago

I just always keep the screen clean and blades clean, never had a problem on the nine different MBs that I've owned with the mono wiper. Bosch blades are about a tenner from GSF or £20ish from MB?

As others, clean the screen with glass cleaner after a wash (takes all of 2 minutes to do all the glass on the car) and wipe the blade as well.

I've used several different brands of screenwash over the years, never had a problem :)

And yep, the panoramic wiper is a nice design, shame they dropped it.

Sp!ke, whats the problem with Rainex?

The problem with rainex is that it smears when used on a windscreen that uses a wiper blade. Its fine (although pretty pointless) on other windows.

Just dont put it on your windscreen.

A microfibre cloth and spray bottle with water used after you applied the Rain x should eliminate the smear problem;)

So, the stuff is pretty pointless for the majority of cars?

You really shouldnt assume that others are incapable of following instructions on the back of the bottle.

Many many people other than myself report the same issue and I can tell you that I did try and persist with this product.

I also used it on a motorcycle visor having seen a demo at a motorcycle show and for both purposes, the product reduces visibility and is dangerous.

I am another hater of rainx - cant stand the product to already mentioned reasons.

Not used it for a while, but never had a problem in all the years I did use it...
