Wiper cover works loose

The bit that covers the slidey bit on my W202's wiper (see picture shamelessly hijacked from 996Jimbo) keeps working loose, usually after just one sweep  It gets 'pushed' further down the arm towards the main pivot and the tapered bit 'rides up' on the round pivot cover.

Given that there is a satisfying 'click' when I replace it, how is it supposed to stay put?

Mine did that too. Odd, isn't it?

I ended up buying a new cover as the little plastic lugs had worn on mine. Cost about £5 from a stealer.....W124 part number IIRC?

Did I not mention that my photo was copyrighted? Sorry but you now owe me £5,000.00.

Having said that, after reading your post I thought I'd check my 'famous' wiper blade and sure enough it is now loose as you describe above.

Bugger.

We'll call it quits.

Tell me which bit you need and I'll see if I can sort out a part number and stealership price for you, see diagram.

Hmmm, the lugs do look a bit worn. Stealership here I come

Jimbo, about the money. A distant relative in Nigeria has just inherited a fortune but to avoid crippling taxes needs to smuggle the money out of the country. Now, if you would just give me your bank details............

Shude, it looks like no. 170 is the culprit.

I'm convinced - but why do you keep emailing and writing to me?

Bank details and fat cheque on its way.

Shude - 170 is the offending article.

I will look for the part number when I get home. It's only a plastic moulding, it can't be that expensive... ;)

If it's cheap I might order some bits myself, mine are all faded.

Part Number

A 1248240349

Price £2.92 (last years price)

Be careful when fitting this - I broke the lugs fitting one on my W140, and had to buy another one! (Another cover that is, not another car :D )

I asked the dealer if someone could just show me the proper way to snap it on, and the woman wanted me to book the car in to have it fitted. Priceless....

To be fair, after a bit of a fuss, they did send someone out and it was on in three seconds!

Just bought a new cover for mine. Cost about £5 (this years price).

Shude, can you price the main cover piece please, its either 50 or 60 on the diagram, mines faded too
