Hi,
I have had an issue with the wipers on my '02 w203 c200.
It doesn't matter whether i press for screenwash & wipe, intermittent wipe, slow or fast wipe, i get approx 9 or 10 sweeps and then the wipers stop (self park doesn't work either)
I have replaced the multi function stalk, relays and wiper motor.
It also warns of low brake fluid (it's full) and parking brake on (it isn't ). These faults all appeared at the same time
Any ideas anyone?

Water/moisture in the front SAM?

OK, What is a SAM? especially a front one and where will I find it? How do I find out if it's faulty and what can I do about it?
Sorry, I haven't messed with electrics on a car in about 20 years, as you can imagine this has all been a slight shock

SAM = signal acquisition module (it also houses the fuses) IIRC water from the windscreen drain can enter the box if the cover isn't fitted properly

Now you mention it, I do recall the fuse box having a lot of water in it some time ago. I drilled some drain holes in the bottom and thought all was well (yes I know, but as mentioned above, this is my 1st experience with "modern" electrics)
So what exactly do I likely need to replace please?

As in post #4 you really need to get the codes read using STAR diagnosis to pinpoint what's wrong. Guessing gets expensive very quickly...

That SAM is going to need replacing if not now then soon. When you drilled the drain holes the corrosion damage would already have started and without drying and treating the whole fuse box and internal SAM components with a moisture displacement fluid it's going to fail. Ebay around £35 to 40 for a replacement.

Thanks folks, yellow pages is my next step , to find my nearest MB specialist. At least there's light at the end of the tunnel now haha.
Thanks for the good advice

Is the wiper self parking handled by SAM or the wiper motor itself on this car? Just wondering if it isn't only a SAM issue?

I'd have thought it would be the motor itself but I've already changed that. I guess I'll find out when I change the SAM thing, if it's still not self parking that'll be another motor

I have an issue with rear wiper stopping in mid sweep and from experience albeit not on MB cars, there is a set of contacts that feed the motor to either park or put in the opposite side of the window. Dale
